For Sale $2900.00
FOB Heyburn Idaho
On the 25th of July, 2007, I acquired this old Buckboard
Wagon from a couple who had intended to use it for parades etc. Their
problem was getting a team of horses they could control to pull it. It set
around for several years until they decided it was just not their thing, messing
with horses. I acquired it sight unseen based on the two photos emailed to
me and shown on this page.
In
these pictures it looks very good. This is the perfect example of how
pictures can make something look significantly better than it looks in person.
The trailer is in very good condition. However,
the paint was worse than what is apparent here and there were some missing trim
screws, etc which I have replaced and fixed. The wagon includes a single
team tree and an extension which makes the wagon useful with a double team.
These wagons are used today in team horse competition of
various kinds. There are several examples of their use at
this link. If you search on "percheron
competition" you will also find many examples of the use of this wagon with
anywhere from one to four teams of horses. The wagon could easily be
pulled by one horse, seeing four teams (eight horses) pulling such a small wagon
is a very interesting experience.
I will be putting many additional pictures of the wagon up
over the rest of the summer, check back often to see what develops.

purpose.
Wagon Features:
- All original parts are present, some need a little refresh
- Includes tongue for one or two teams of horses
- There is no major damage to the overall structure of the wagon
Things That Need Attention:
Nothing really serious, just cosmetic and appearance items.
- Item 1
-
Probably the most important thing that needs attention is
the paint. The paint is complete but has some cracks and chips that
need to be touched up. Matching the current color is important to
eliminate having to do a complete repaint of the trailer. Redoing the
pin-stripping is not something I would be good at.
- Item 2
-
Reinforcing the bed structure immediately over the
pivot/steering mechanism.
- Item 3
-
Replacing several old acorn nut screws with bolts and
acorn nuts.
Overall Condition Of The Wagon:
The wagon is in very good condition. It is structurally
sound and everything is present. Having all items present means even if
the item needs replacing, the original component is present as a pattern.
You could build an entire wagon just by using this one as a pattern.
